Jenny is from Berkeley Springs, WV and is a 4th year WVU Pharmacy student. She enjoys playing tennis, skiing, and reading. She has a 13 year old Shepherd mix who loves to nap! Jenny is currently pursuing a Residency program post-graduation. She would like to eventually work in a VA hospital/outpatient clinic. She chose her rotation with CLAH because she wants to learn how medications are used in animals, beyond what she’s learned in class about indications in humans. Plus, she enjoys spending time around all kinds of furry creatures!
Rachel is from Cumberland, MD and is a 4th year WVU Pharmacy student. She likes to shoot pool, enjoys drawing, and traveling. She has 3 cats at home. After graduation she would like to work in a retail pharmacy in her hometown. She chose her rotation here because she has always loved animals. She was in 4-H and FFA and did her Associates degree in Animal Science. She is interested in seeing the application of common medications in the veterinary population.
Welcome Jenny and Rachel!
Meet Stewie: Stewie is a beagle that was found 4 years ago and brought into CLAH. He had a back injury, cause unknown. This injury left both hind legs paralyzed. He gets around in a wheelchair that was made custom fit for him. He wore out the first one! (Both chairs were very generously donated.)
Stewie gets plenty of exercise on his front legs as he runs around the kennel area in his wheels. When he’s not in his wheels he lounges around up front in the kennel area on his cozy bed surrounded by his toys. Although he’s estimated to be about 8 years old he plays with his toys like a puppy!
He recently was invited by WVU PAWS to attend a meeting with them. They gave him a big welcome along with a lot of his favorite treats, toys, & blankets! They were very touched by his story and wanted to share it with other people. Stewie was very grateful and touched to have met such caring people and make all those new friends! A big thanks to Sherry and Carl for taking him on his outing!
Stewie is always happy to make new friends so please feel free to stop at our kennel and meet him!
Toby is a black and tan coon hound mix. Male/Neutered. Approximately 5 months old. Active, but well behaved, he is good around other dogs, kids, and cats. He is about 35 pounds. Contact CLAH at 304-594-1124 if you or anyone you know is interested in adopting this sweet puppy!!! TOBY WENT TO A LOVING HOME IN 2013…..HIS NEW NAME IS CHICKEN!
Occasionally, the Cheat Lake Animal Hospital will obtain homeless dogs and cats. On our blog, we will show pets who are in need of homes. If you are interested in any of the pets we list, please contact us at (304)594-1124 or e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Support the Fund
The Cheat Lake Animal Hospital staff has recently started the Save Our Lives Fund. We will be selling special treats in the reception area of the hospital to collect funds to help cover costs of medical treatment and care for the pets that are sometimes abandoned at our hospital.
All pets that are seen here have been spayed or neutered and have had their vaccinations started, so there will be a minor adoption fee to cover these costs.
Our friend Stewie was found at the WVU farm by one of CLAH’s employees. He had sustained injuries to his rear limbs by an unknown tragedy. The Cheat Lake Animal Hospital took Stewie in and is still in search of a much needed forever home for this lovable beagle.
Stewie is in need of a family that has a HUGE heart and a little extra time to care for him properly. He gets around very well in his cart (which is like a 4-wheel drive vehicle–it can go over pretty tough terrain), eats well, loves treats, loves to play with other dogs, and just has a sweet-loving personality all around.
The local 4-H club helped Stewie tremendously by raising money for his cart and his care here at CLAH (see linked stories below).
Stewie is fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, and neutered.
If you or anyone you know would have interest in adopting Stewie, please contact us at (304)594-1124.
