Exotic Jungle Cat Adoption Program
Located on the Mileground in Morgantown, West Virginia, Exotic Jungle is a unique Super Pet Store that is committed to improving the well being of the cat population in the greater Morgantown Area. In the past 5 years, over 6000 cats have been adopted through the Cat Rescue Program. The success of this program has gained attention for its special care and concern for cats.
Lisa Phillips and Emily Saunders, the owners of the Exotic Jungle Store, have committed an enormous amount of time and energy to provide cats with compatible homes and in reducing the number of unwanted cats by assuring that all the cats are spayed or neutered. They also assure that the cats are healthy by testing for feline leukemia and feline AIDS, as well as starting their vaccination series.
The cats and kittens that are adopted through this program come from various areas throughout Morgantown. Some are transferred from the Monongalia County Canine Adoption Center, others are rescued strays from around town. When they are rescued, they are then transported to Cheat Lake Animal Hospital for spaying/neutering, testing, and vaccinating. They are then taken to Exotic Jungle to be placed. There is a minimal fee for adoption which strictly covers the cost of the services performed, in other words, Exotic Jungle does not make any type of profit from the cats that go through this adoption process.
